Relevant Experience

Served as Senior Director in IPRO's Health Information Management/ Payment Error Prevention Program from 2000-2002. Over 18 years of experience as a clinician and consultant with significant expertise in Medicare and NYS All Patient DRGs as well as a wide range of hospital and physician-related issues, including billing, coding, education, and compliance. Worked at Deloitte & Touche’s Health Care Regulatory Consulting practice as a Senior Manager prior to IPRO. Formerly was President of own health care consulting firm that specialized in performing DRG compliance reviews and third party payor appeals for client hospitals. Also served as a physician advisor for a major health insurance company in the Northeast. Serves as a frequent speaker on various clinical coding issues and has delivered presentations before hospital staff, management and physicians, the New York Health Information Management Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council, Greater New York Hospital Association’s UR Committee Conference, Long Island Health Information Management Association, IPRO’s 2nd Annual PEPP Conference, and the New York State Capital District Professional Coders. Certified coding specialist and a noted author and speaker on clinical coding and documentation. Served as Chair of the New York Medical Coding Section and State Roundtable Coordinator for the Society for Clinical Coding. Also served as Editor of IPRO’s PEPP newsletter, PEPP Update.
